About us

It's kind of a fun story.

In August 2025, six women from the Class of 1989 got together for the first time since high school for a long weekend on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest. We had each remained in contact with one other person in the group, but not the same person. So we really were relative strangers to one another.

What unfolded after 35 years of very little contact was magical and a template for connection, acceptance, and hope that really needed to make its way into the world.

We cooked. We laughed. We yapped. We danced. We played games. We bargain-hunted. We ate. We cried. We hugged. We could not get enough of the warm embrace that we all felt. All in various stages of career, family life, and personal discovery, we came with open hearts and curiosity and left with a level of closeness and comfort that is hard to achieve in modern day, technology-filled, adulthood.

Around the table one evening, I was expressing gratitude for my husband, and described myself as being One Hot Monster. The girls all IMMEDIATELY laughed and knew what I meant. I'm hot. Cold. Yes. No. In. Out. Up. Down. Loving. Feisty. Disorganized. Capable. A FULL CATASTROPHE of a woman. And we ALL are some version of full in our own way, aren't we? There is something very comforting in numbers.

Hot Monster is an identity, a term of endearment that captures the fullness of this mess of womanhood. It's a warm embrace, a compliment of the highest regard...if you're here, its YOU. Lucky you, and lucky everyone that knows you.

Let's show the world our Hot Monster - wear it proudly.
